Approximately 8 years ago Best Health magazine asked me to develop a cartoon strip. I cast around for a theme that would appeal to their female audience and because I find my family a constant source of humorous material I decided to draw them.   Best Health (now defunct) never picked up my strip but I continued to draw it.

The comic strip begins 8 years ago and is chronological.

My graphic memoir ‘The Mousehouse Years’ was published October 2014.  It’s about my parents’ dysfunctional romance and the story of a single mother raising six children in the slums of Toronto in the early sixties.  Please visit http://www.velvethaney.com

I’m currently working on a MFA in creative writing at Lesley University in Boston and drawing a sequel memoir titled Who Me?  I’ll get back to the comic strip as soon as I can.
